Welcome to a one-off celebration of the very best of Hornsey Library.

We are opening up every chapter of this iconic building for a day-long showcase of creativity, history, and discovery.

A Special Day at the Heart of the Community

From the quiet corners of the Book Nook to the bustling Original Gallery, the building will come alive with a full programme of talks and readings from acclaimed authors, historians, and local voices.

Whether you are curious about the modernist architecture of our “modest triumph” or want to explore the mysterious stacks of the CYM Music Library, this is your chance to rediscover the brilliant resources right on your doorstep.

 Get Stuck In

Spark your creativity with a variety of hands-on sessions. You can:

  • Create: Join our drawing workshop, sharpen your skills in a creative writing group, or try your hand at the art of cyanotype making.
  • Explore: Take a “behind-the-scenes” tour or follow the Zen Garden trail.
  • Play: Bring the family for seed planting and special rhyme time sessions.
  • Relax: Enjoy music in the Zen Garden or sit back and read in the main library book nook.

Hornsey Library is more than just a place for books—it is a vital community hub. Every event during our celebration is free of charge.

We invite you to join us, get involved, and see everything your local library has to offer.

  • Ticketing: To keep the day open to everyone, we have a “fair access” policy. While some events are pre-bookable online, we reserve 50% of all tickets for walk-ins on the day.
